Vintage Cotswold Etchings Copper Plate Flying Rules Circa 1920 Vickers Gunbus Framed Art
Add a striking piece of military history to your collection with this vintage copper plate etching from Cotswold Etchings (Minster Lovell, Oxfordshire, England).
This detailed piece features a copper-etched plate displaying the famous "First Set of Flying Rules – Circa 1920" (Air Force/Signal Corps Regulations), featuring the iconic humorous instruction: "Aviators will not wear spurs while flying." The top section beautifully illustrates a 1914 Vickers F.B.5 "Gunbus" biplane.
This print features fascinating historical details along the bottom layout. It was published by courtesy of the Burmah Oil Co Ltd., which originally commissioned the artwork from the artist Battersby. The line-art style on the plate was meticulously brought to life by master engraver G. Kew, whose signature is etched directly onto the bottom-right corner of the artwork.
