A pair of little white pumpkin salt and pepper shakers. Cream glaze with a warm buttery cast, pooling a shade deeper in the hollows, over a moulded surface that alternates smooth ribs with a pebbled, netted texture — the skin of an heirloom pumpkin rather than a cartoon jack-o’-lantern.
A short brown stem on each, glazed glossy. One has three holes, the other two, which is how you tell the salt from the pepper. Both corks are present and intact.
Two and a half inches tall and small enough to sit on a side plate. Unmarked — no maker’s stamp on either base — and nothing in the form tells you when they were made, so I’m not claiming a decade.
