This charming vintage Chinese shard box features a beautiful, hand-painted porcelain top set into a detailed metal frame. These boxes are traditionally crafted using reclaimed fragments of older Chinese porcelain, giving each piece a unique, historical character. The lid displays a delicate, hand-painted landscape scene with soft purple, green, and blue brushstrokes.
Construction & Details
The body is constructed from lightweight base metal finished with an ornate, multi-layered wirework design wrapping entirely around the sides. The interior features a clean, smooth metallic wash. This is a lid-off style box (non-hinged) where the top lifts completely free from the base.
