An Ethan Allen accent table with a scalloped, serpentine top and a fine gold line hand-painted around the border, in a deep near-black finish with warm brown coming through where the light catches it. Five curved cabriole legs rather than the usual four — an unusual detail, and the reason it reads as sculptural rather than ordinary from every angle.
The silhouette borrows from nineteenth-century French Chinoiserie, which is why it sits so easily with traditional, eclectic or moody-modern rooms alike.
Works as a side table, a plant stand, or a piece on its own in an entryway or bedroom nook.
